really raw oats- washed?
April 12, 2009 - 8:05pm
I really like oats, and bought myself an oatflaker, but my sister said that organic grains ought to be washed (after all, we wash our produce before we use it). I can see that this would be good, but then I would have to wash,
and then dry my oat groats before I put them through the flaker. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

Optimally you would be soaking your groats before eating them anyway. Most seeds, including grains, should be sprouted before consumption. It's a little bit more of a hassle, but the difference in taste and the ease of digestion is totally worth it.
