How do you tell if olive oil has gone rancid? I’m incredibly sensitive to smell and whenever I open the bottle, I find it smells like alcohol. I really don’t want to use it, and anyway I much prefer actual olives. Could the plastic bottle have desintegrated into the oil?
And can you throw oil out by just emptying it in the sink? Or toilet? Hmmm…
Don’t dump it in your sink, you’ll clog up your drain! Trust me on that one. I think you basically have to throw it out.
How old is your Olive Oil? If stored in a cool place, it should last quite a while, but if it’s been getting warm, it may well be bad. The plastic bottle may certainly have contaminated it – most plastic bottles leech toxins into the liquids they carry, and should be avoided.
