New to Raw Foods

My boyfriend and I are just went raw we have been cooking and eating raw for 2 days now. Since then both of us have had stomach pain and feel kind of off. Has anyone else every felt this way? Is this like a cleansing process because we didn’t eat unhealthy before this. So if I could please get some insight it would be appreciated.

  • People do go through detox when they change over, I myself recently had an odd rash which I put down to detoxing. I recommend adding raw slowly into your diet, start with green smoothies which are packed full of good nutrients for breakfast or an evening meal, then have something semi-raw for lunch say something and salad or with raw vegetables. Start slow because it is a shock to your body if you suddenly go raw.

yes it is definitely a cleansing process…did you eat meat and/or dairy before, or not? that can make a big difference than if you were just eating vegetarian/vegan-ish cooked food.

  • I went from vegan (cooked) to raw back in August and at exactly one week I got really bad flu-like symptoms… it is detox. The detox symptoms will be worse if you go straight into raw without gradually transitioning, but at least you get it over with and get all of the toxins out!

also, when you say “raw” do you mean loads of fruits and veggies or a lot of nuts and seeds? seeds and esp. nuts are hard to digest and may be the cause of your tummy aches. they are fine in moderation, but i know when we first start this we can get a little carried away with the imitation cooked dishes…

otherwise, yep. detox. definitely do it slowly. there is nothing to be gained from going quicker than your body can handle (esp. if you went from eating meat and dairy, like superkat says).
