New Here

Hi, I’m new here, am a forty year old Personal Fitness Trainer from the UK on a journey to change my life!

I have been vegetarian for over 20 years and a on-off raw vegan for the last 18 months and am now at the beginning of a path that will lead me towards being 100% raw vegan. It’s certainly a challenge and I have fallen off the path many times but once you have experienced raw food for what it is there is no turning back.

The thing I find most difficult is having no support on my path. My hubby is vegetarian but still eats cooked foods and has different beliefs to me as to what is good for us. He is very interested in the Aruyvedic lifestyle and as such doesn’t eat a lot of raw food at all. He is very supportive of me though but it isn’t the same as having someone alongside you who is going through the same trials and tribulations as you are.

So, I am hoping to find like minded people here that we can help and encourage each other on our journeys.

Namaste

Hi Helen, How exciting that you’re planning to incorporate more raw into your diet! It’s great that you’re so focused on fitness and personal health – what a wonderful background for transitioning into raw foods. Your blog is neat – i enjoyed reading some of the recent posts.

i’m new to raw (7 weeks all raw, and counting) and the one thing that makes it easy is that i don’t expose myself to cooked food, ever. if my partner makes cooked food, i go for a walk or eat a raw snack. i can’t yet handle going to restaurants, and i ask friends to meet me for a movie or a glass of raw wine instead of going out to eat. it’s worked beautifully!!

Welcome to goneraw… and I hope you find a source of support and inspiration, as i’ve found this site to be.

Hi Helen, nice to meet you. Joining online forums will definately help you as you transition into raw. Also, I found it helpful to read up on books by people like Gabriel Cousens and David Wolfe. There are lots of really good videos on youtube now as well. I use ayurvedic principle on a raw diet. There is also a support forum for people with partners who aren’t raw at giveittomeraw.com

Best of luck on your journey.

  • Thanks Winona and Sweetpea for your comments. Is great at last to have some communication with others that are on this amazing path as well. It makes all the difference.

I agree with sweetpea about books and videos and forums. I read one book a week about raw… Enzyme Nutrition by Howell is the latest one i read. it’s GREAT! and a surprisingly quick read. I watch videos on youtube every other day. They keep me inspired and motivated.

helen – Welcome! I have done well eating 80 – 100% raw until I get stressed, and this website is what has made me able to be successful the last several months when things got crazy and I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to keep on my path. I also agree with sweetpea – You can use ayurvedic in eating raw – Gabriel Cousens talks a little about it in one book I read. I wish you all the best! :)

  • Just wait – when your hubby witnesses how good you look and feel he’ll want to switch too. ;) Good luck!
