My 9th Week Eating Mostly Raw

I haven't written on this blog for a few weeks. I am happy to say that I am still on my journey to eat mostly raw and for the most part I am doing good. I am still eating chicken on the weekends. Sometimes I eat chicken on Friday & Sunday and sometimes on Friday Saturday & Sunday. On my 4th week I only ate raw for about 3 days. But I was able to get back on track the next week. I really would like to eliminate the chicken on the weekend. It's so hard to think about not eating chicken. I love it that much. lol Anyway my goal this week is to not eat any chicken at all.One of the problems that I have is for some reason by the end of the week I seem to get very hungry & just raw food doesn't seem to satisfy me. This weekend I am planning to eat some pasta & maybe rice & cooked veggies when I feel like raw food is not filling me up. It's really weird. I can go through the whole week eating raw but by the end of the week I really want something more substantial and it doesn't matter how much raw I eat I'm still hungry. Maybe I'm not eating enough or maybe I need more vitamin & minerals. This week I am eating a green smoothie for breakfast, another for lunch then 2 big salads in the evening, then nuts & fruit for snacks.

I'm gonna be better about sharing my journey. All the encouragement that I get here really helps me.

Till next week.

    Good job.

Might help you to think of the "chicken" you are eating as "chickenS," formerly living beings that are killed based on the demand of people who buy the flesh products.

Congrats on your success! I would watch a couple of videos about chicken farming and this might help deminish your chicken cravings. (I've heard Meet your Meat is one to watch)

If you are after something cooked and filling, but still healthy, try baked sweet potatoes or butternut squash. Tasty and satisfying but not too taxing on your system.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks you all for your comments. Mikfizzle I like your blog. I can't wait to get a dehydrator so that I can make some chips.

Thanks superfood2 & sv3 for the tips on getting over eating chicken. I will definitely watch the video.

aww thank you for your compliments jtlovesongs :)

  • Are you eating enough 'substantial' raw food, like nuts and seeds? I get cravings big time for things like pasta and turkey meat balls, things like that, and a serious sit down with seed "crusts" (thicker than crackers) and some spreads - avocado, cashew 'cheese', even some raw goat cheese - makes me so full I can hardly walk. Kelp noodles (SeaTangle makes them) are unbelievable...you can eat HEAPS of them and there are so few calories/carbs/fat it's as if you didn't eat anything. I put on a sauce (tomato, garlic, onion, oregano, sea salt in the blender), warm it all up just a bit, and OMG...takes the pasta craving away immediately. Plus, the kelp noodles expand in your stomach so there is no way you'll be hungry for hours.

There are so many substitutes for the things we think we can't live without...I'm sure you can get past your chicken addiction. Good luck and keep going!

hey.. my worst craving when going raw was chicken! chicken and pizza. I still don't get why those two foods. Before raw, i would eat this rotisserie chicken from the grocery store that was great with cheese and 'french bread' LIttle did i know all the crap that was in the french bread, let alone everything else. Anywayz. It was kind of like detoxing from a drug. I would tell my neighbors, I want chicken! and say things like this diet is great, but I still crave chicken. I kept talking about it. Eventually my chicken craving went away. I'm not sure when.. seemed to take a couple of weeks. Now I don't think about it at all. The bits of chicken i've had since then, didn't even taste good. It just tastes different after you can detox from it. So I say, go cold turkey(hehe), give yourself something raw that you absolutely love to reward yourself for giving up chicken. Deal with the cravings. Talk about it. Eventually it WILL go away. Best Wishes. Namaste.
