MSM for Skin and Nails

Well, I've been using MSM for a few weeks now and my skin looks fine (blemishes from food allergies heal much better than before). However, my nails are growing longer but still brittle and thin. I'm so tired of thin nails! Any suggestions for the amount of MSM I"m taking 1 tsp a day.

if you think MSM is good you should give food grade Diatomaceous Earth a shot, which is the best source of silica. Silica is the main nutrient for skin and hair.

  • I bought the powder by NOW Foods, when I run out I'll look into this brand. Thanks :)

hey its not a different brand its a different product, which is silica rich, the best nutrient for skin and hair, connective tissue also. Also acts as a colon cleanser and anti-parasitical.

I second the diatomaceous earth--I've never had a problem with thin nails, but now they grow too fast, and they're hard to trim because they're so strong . . . I also take MSM daily.

  • How do you guys take it? I add it to smoothies, but it's so bitter and have decided not to add it to them anymore.

Are you taking it with vitamin C? Now foods has a great vitamin C product that is corn free (most forms of vitamin C are corn derived). I think it's called tru-C. Vitamin C is necessary for MSM to be fully absorbed.

  • I sure will look into silica supplements. I haven't been able to find DE.
