I am. I do not watch TV or movies. I think images can profoundly affect us in a negative way, and I would like to say I refuse to allow myself to be manipulated by advertising or any other medium that exhalts and degrades human sexuality and dignity at the same time.
I do, however, waste lots of time on the internet when I should be studying for my philosophy degree...
I haven't had any kind of live TV connection in my home in seven years. No cable . . . no satellite . . . no dish . . . nothing. I don't remember particularly missing it. I kept the TV, and use it for watching a few select movies that I either own, borrow or rent. I probably spend too much time online. BUT, I am in total control of what I see and hear. When the grandchildren come I keep them busy enough that they don't seem to miss TV either. Most of my students think I'm kidding when I tell them I don't watch TV. Some of the teachers also think I've gone a little crazy, or that I actually NEED cable. Go figure.
