Master Cleanse Questions

I recently have had 2 gallbladder attacks in the last 2 months. I have recently started up again (after a year hiatus) on raw foods. This second attack came

after eating a dish I had made w/olive oil that I had marinated mushrooms in. I wasn't sure what caused the attack.

Is the Master Cleanse sufficient for a gallbladder cleanse.

Is there any particular length of time to do the cleanse for the first time?

Is it better to do shorter durations with more frequent cleansing?

My biggest concern is that the cleanse may produce a gallbladder attack severe enough it might send me to the emergency room.

Any thoughtscomments would be greatly appreciated.

I am curious to know what a gallbladder attack is? What does it feel like and what exactly does it mean?

I wish I could be of help, that's why I asked the questions. I do recall that I've read somewhere about something being good for cleansing the gallbladder... I'll have to go do some looking though. Hope you are ok!

  • greatisHisname,

I have also had difficulties with my gallbladder and following a couple of gallbladder cleanses (the Hulda Clark method) and a 12 day Master Cleanse, I am symptom free! The Master Cleanse is my preference although you must allow yourself more time and be prepared to suffer a bit - but, trust me, it is sooooo worth it! The first three days of the cleanse is the worst, but if you follow it exactly you can expect to feel great by day 4, phenomenal by day 5, and it only gets better after that.

The symptoms that you had after eating a high fat dish are compatible with a conjested gallbladder. Until you get all the big stones out with a flush of some sort, you won't be able to eat high fat foods that readily.

Good luck and be patient with any cleanse that you undertake.

I haven't had gallbladder problems, but I'm a huge fan of the Master Cleanse. :) I want to do a Hulda Clark liver / gallbladder cleanse eventually too. You wouldn't believe how many people I've met that went 3 days on the MC then quit. That is, by far, the worst day and it sucks that so many people suffer through the worst and don't get to see what the rest of the cleanse is like! It is recommended to do a minimum of 10 days every time you do the MC, going longer is your choice. Here is the link to read the original book by Stanley Burroughs:

If you are concerned about major detox problems and/or a gallbladder attack I would go 100% raw for a week ahead, if you're not already. Or maybe try some other cleanses first before taking on the MC...it's definitely a stronger cleanse than anything else I've tried!

  • Coconutty - to answer your questions about the pain and what it feels like? The first time it happened a year ago I honestly thought it was a heart attack. The chest pain was so incredible (more in the center of the sternum) - the only thing that made me suspect it was gallbladder is because the pain continues under the right side of the rib cage and to the middle of the back. The other thing associated with it is extreme nausea. I wanted to throw up so badly but couldn't. The pain has lasted anywhere from 2-4 hours. These last 2 attacks have been a little more mild. I haven't gone to the hospital or even talked w/my Dr. because they'll just do surgery. I've heard of people still having digestive complications even after the gallbladder is removed so I don't even want to go there.

rAWngish teechr - I've been trying to self-diagnose what could be wrong w/the gallbladder and what you say makes sense since it seems to happen after I've eaten a high fat meal - even olive oil.

freewitheft: I've been eating mostly raw for the last 2 weeks but have been doing green smoothies off and on for the last few months. Is it detox that makes the first 3 days the worst?

THANK YOU SO MUCH for everyone's response.

I think it's the hunger and letting go of everything that has to do with eating that makes the first 3 days so bad. When you realize how much of your time is spent shopping for food, preparing it, eating it, cleaning up, etc. you realize how much you are focused on it! And it doesn't help to be hungry while you're thinking about it. On my first MC, it took four days for the hunger to fade, but after that I was o.k. To offset that, I felt fantastic and had soooooo much energy all that time I was hungry - I was moving furniture and cleaning my carpets and stuff like that. After getting over that hump, I still think about food and what I might eat when I'm done, but there's no more overwhelming hunger and the thoughts aren't enough to make you really consider stopping early anymore. On that first MC, I didn't have any major detox symptoms until day 5. They lasted all the way until I woke up on day 7, then I went back to feeling great again. On my second and third MC's, I didn't have real extreme high energy or low energy days. It seemed like a more slow and steady detox. My energy was just a little off but I never felt like a zombie or didn't want to get out of bed. It's true what they say that every cleanse is different - I guess it's just a matter of what issue your body decides to tackle while it has the time and energy.

  • I have come across two cleanses. The Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs and a friend referred me to these sites

    http://curezone.com/cleanse/liver/huldas_recipe.asp

    http://www.amaluxherbal.com/liver cleanse.htm

Each one has a different recipe for a cleanse.

Is the Master Cleanse by Stanley Burroughs effective in cleaning out the gallbladder? The other recipes call for oil and I'm afraid to use that method.

  • rAWngishteechr - I'm nervous about the Hulda Clark method. I'm afraid the oil is going to give me a gallbladder attack.

How many days did you stay on the Hulda Clark cleanse? Also, I am unsure about some of the ingredients in the recipe (HCI & Ornithine)

I think I'm making this more complicated than what it is. Maybe I'm reading too much information.

    Thanks again for your help.

Right now I am having extreme pains under my sternum and am looking for some answers and found this thread. The strange thing about my pain is that it is radiating up my throat and causing severe aching in my right ear. Could this be caused by my gallbladder?

I'm only 27, don't have health insurance or a doctor, and just ate a bowl of papaya with lime juice. Not a fatty food. I did have high fat food last night but can't imagine its from that.

    Any ideas?

I would do a liver/gallbladder flush. First however you should do a colon cleanse, to clear the way for the crap coming out of your liver and gallbladder. Check out 'the amazing liver and gallbladder cleanse"

When you drink that oil/lemon mix its gonna pull the stones out of your liver and gall bladder- you can actually feel them roll on out. But follow proper procedure on doing these.

additionally there are premade cleanses out there that make things easier to follow- check out blessedherbs.com Ive done their cleanses before and they worked miracles.
