I bought one a couple of years ago and do love it. In the winter I sometimes use it 5 times per week for sessions that range from 30 min to 1 hour. I have the temp set at 55 deg. C.
However, I now believe that infrared saunas do not detoxify as much as claimed. I read an article that tested the sweat of several people after a sauna session, and the amount of toxins and impurities in their sweat was very small, less than 1% if I remember correctly. Most of it was water. Any toxins that are expelled are from very near the surface of the skin. Most toxins are are buried deep within the body in fat deposits that infrared rays just cannot reach. Those toxins are mainly expelled out through the colon and urine.
Infrared saunas are also very enervating. Meaning that they drain your energy rather than than give you a boost of energy. I certainly feel like lying down on the couch after one.
Although I love getting in my nice warm sauna, especially on a cold winter’s day, if I knew then what I know know, I probably would not have bought mine.
Save your $25. If you want to sweat, just do some aerobic exercise with some intense intervals and you will benefit more from that than sitting in a sauna.
