I need some advice on being raw

juliapinkdotjuliapinkdot Raw Newbie

I've been vegan for about 5 months now and Monday I went raw. The problem is I don't know what to eat. I mean, For the past four days I've been eating fruit and leafy greens and avocados... I feel kinda bloaty. Is that normal? Should I be detoxing? I'm the only raw vegan in the household. I don't wanna give up!

julia, you're doing great and don't give up!!! you will feel bloated, but trust me, it gets better. my stomach used to stick out so much before i put raw foods in my diet, and now it's almost flat (with the exception of the some belly fat). i'm not 100% raw yet, but my main staples are dates, bananas, zucchini pasta, avocado rolls, vanilla nut mylk, and smoothies. i think it's important that when you are transitioning, you eat anything that is raw and don't worry about calories. just get tons of variety or you will get bored. after you've been raw for a while, you can refine what you eat.

I agree with joannabanana. When transitioning to raw you should eat whatever your craving while your body adjusts itself. Another thing, being bloated right now is normal. A raw diet is a VERY high fiber diet. When your body first experiences this overload of fiber so the stomach expands. After continual exposure to a high fiber diet you body will naturally adjust itself and your stomach will go back to normal. Mine actually got flatter!! Just hang in their and good luck!! :)
