HIGH RAW???????????

I have been wondering about this for some time. Can I consider myself high raw/mostly raw, some percentage raw if basically the only non raw things I eat are -sprouted spelt bread and the occasional outing to a restaurant, eating mostly vegetarian fare but no meat? Is consuming the bread which is sometimes toasted hurting my progress for health? Any thoughts and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Green tea has got caffeine is it hasn’t it? I think I checked up on it a while ago and saw that it did. That’s not such a good thing for the body despite any beneficial anti oxidants it may also contain…

When I was cooked vegan I was also wheat free because wheat made my skin wrinkle ( it destroys elastacin in skin), and it made me bloat. I felt better without it even when I was cooked. So personally I think bread is harmful, besides the fact that it is dead food, that is. If you ‘cheat’ I think that if you cheat with only vegan food it is easier on your body and causes less further cooked food cravings.

I reckon that if you consider yourself raw then it will help you to be more raw, so I think you should go ahead and see yourself as a raw foodie!

The most important thing is that you are as raw as YOU feel comfortable with. Do you feel you need to be more raw, or are you comfortable with the way you are now? It really is a personal thing, and depends on what your goals/reasons were for going raw.

I consider myself high raw. My goal was to get rid of my hypothyroid problems. I eat almost all raw with an occassional cup of coffee, some spices, agave, and cocao. The way I measure my progress is that I no longer have a goiter, I have more energy, I have lost weight, and just recently I no longer need a kelp supplement to manage my thyroid, instead I add spirulina to my green smoothies.

From looking at what you wrote, it looks like you are well on your way to a high raw lifestyle…but again, it doesn’t matter what I think, it’s what you are comfortable with.

Why label yourself? You don’t do anything else exclusively, do you? If eating out occasionally makes you happy, then do it. You may not always feel this way as time goes on. This is a transitional time for you. Transition! Spiritual health is as important as physical health. When you have rigid rules, you have a tendency to feel like you’re cheating when you break them. Any amount of raw is better than SAD.

  • I agree with what was said by all. I guess my concern is health wise.To go all the way or not.I think being extreme can be unhealthy but I want to get the most out of this way of eating. I too was diagnosed with a wheat allergy in 1992 and have avoided all bread products for years until I discovered enzymes and sprouted grain. I started my raw journey last June and Have been mostly on with a month or so semi raw off of it since. I did start again 3 months ago and I guess I’m “high raw” since other than the sprouted bread/. I too agree as to not label. Over the years since starting a healthy lifestyle in 1989, there is so much information that It can be confusing so thats why I asked about the bread. I must say I am proud of not eating any fast food since 1989!!!!! Are there any substitutions for my bread habit that does not require a dehydrator??? Probably not just thought I would ask. Thanks to all for responding!! Oh and about the tea, can’t give it up,just love it- besides my friend got it for me in Hong Kong!

  • I wouldn’t worry about the caffeine content in green tea too much, as their is very little per cup. Rooibos tea, also known as red tea, has no caffeine and is loaded with antioxidants including SOD. (it’s also delicious and naturally sweet)

Re bread – I’ve seen dehydrators going cheap on ebay a lot.

Sorry forrestlyone, but green tea actually has more caffeine than black tea. It seems to act differently though. Here

  • I wasn’t comparing it to black tea. Even black tea has a relatively low caffiene compared with Coffee. Alas, you have a point regarding the actual caffeine content, but as the body absorbs less caffeine from green tea it really equates to green tea having less caffeine. But no need to argue..I still say Rooibos tea is tops if you are searching for a caffeine free alternative!!

I’ll make the comparison then. Green tea has less caffeine than black according to this site (with quotes from Dr.Andrew Weil) and more health benefits.
