Green Juice = Euphoria

I juiced some collard, kale, carrots, celery, radishes, parsley...about 12 oz or juice and I got a rush like a runner's high.

I mean I got a buzz from green juice- never expected that.

I've juiced celery, kale, carrots, and jicama (about 6 oz) but it did not have this effect.

Does anyone know why that is?

I know exactly what youre talking about. Green juices just make you happy and energetic. I think its from absorbing all the needed nutrients. Its the real deal as far as energy drinks go. I get a bit addicted on juice feasting just b/c the high is so great! Ive done similar to what you have, only sans radishes and throw in some lemon and ginger. Awesome!! :)

  • Good, I'm not alone. I thought I was tripping out for a second...lol...well i guess now i know why people are addicted to wheatgrass

  • me too!!

Ive had people think I was totally smoked out high, when I had just had a green drink. I cant stop laughing, i feel so euphoric. its the serotonin.

    ecstatic!

GREENS!! :D I would only do a feast of green juices. I think other types don't have the same effect.

Wow, totally know what you're talking about! Sometimes I would even be scared to drive to work after my morning green juice because I was so "buzzed"! Green juices can really make you feel alive! Raw highs are the best!

  • Superfood, you're right it's the greens!!! I had the same feeling today when I had a collard wrap...I get the same feeling when I drink 8 glasses of water a day (which I rarely do). Well, I know what I'll be eating everyday- Greens!!

  • I've heard that parsley has tremendous "such-and-such" to it...that's the technical term by the way, such-and-such:)

haha, I mean, I can't remember exactly, but there was a guy who drank juiced parsley every morning and night, and he claimed to have sustained and almost amazing energy...It's something to think about:) I just wish there were more herbs and various leafy greens here in Seoul...it's sad too because I remember all these things being SO widely available at the markets in Toronto! oh bother...

  • Tabbycats_tofu,

That is pretty neat...I'm sorry...Seoul's speciality is seafood if I remember correctly (or not ). However, I've never had kimchi- is it as good as they say?

I know what you mean! I usually have a green smoothie every morning and Ive gotten used to the buzz that it gives me. Now that i havent been able to get my greens this past week Ive noticed a loss of energy.

  • ItVeganAtGenesis: Well, I've got a pretty serious shellfish allergy (discovered before I went raw vegan) and so I've not tried any kimchi (I'm sort of a heretic here because of it:)) But, millions of Koreans can't be wrong? or can they? I have to say, the smell alone makes me want to avoid it...

I hear kimchi on the bbq is tasty...but in all honesty, it looks and sounds gross (I know that's not at all accepting or open minded of me, but...c'est mon avi)

Korea is a nation of meat and veggie eaters! It's amazing how many of my students will eagerly discuss the finer points of cabbage and spinach,a nd they even regard my green smoothies of spinach and kale as ultra-healthy-yet-not-the-most-tasty-can-I-try-some-please?

    It's pretty interesting...

They do seem to LOVE their meat (on the whole, that is)...There's a market down the street where I shop, and they've always got a line for three things: fresh squid, fish of all sorts, and thinly sliced beef (all of it is butchered on site which makes me feel a bit sick sometimes)...

  • ps, kimchi is cured with shellfish, and that's why I can't eat it, I think I forgot to mention that in the above post

  • Oh, I understand...I didn't know it was cured in shellfish. I bet you could make a raw vegan version though. Ani Phyo is Korean and she said her parents were big on fresh organice veggies from their own garden. So, it was her way of life until college.
