Flax seed funny aftertaste
I ran into the problem with using Flax seeds, when i make anyhting with it that requirs dehidration the food has some strange unpleasant aftertaste. Its like bitter or something... does anybody has the same problem? I am totally
lost and not really sure what i can substitute it with, i was thinking maybe Wheat Germ or somehting? It anoys hell out of me that i cant make crakers and other stuff.
I tied different flax, already ground up, tried grouning it myself, i keep it in the fridge so it will not go bad.
Please help

I totally agree!! Flax blended into things in small quantities - like in smoothies - is fine. But anything dehydrated with flax just tastes blech to me.
Flax can go rancid very quickly. If you start out with fresh flax, it's usually fine after dehydrating, but if the seeds are old, you might wind up with a spoiled product when you dehydrate. In general, the golden flax seeds taste milder than the brown ones, and any flax seeds (or seeds of any kind) should be stored in the refrigerator.
Chia is a more shelf-stable seed that makes a good substitute, but it doesn't have *quite* the same properties as flax, so the texture will be different.
If the reciepie is called for grounded flax should i just grind the chia seeds? And i been keeping falx seeds in the fridge and i guess that did not do the trick....
