Firefox

I have been using IE for my browser & have dial up. I was able to download Firefox in one hour, even though it said it would take 2. So I now have IE & Firefox on my computer. And the forums look correct & I can do a search. I imagine eventually I’ll do everything thru Firefox, but don’t have the time to customize it at the moment.

woohoo drgonfly~ You can have both IE and Firefox on your ‘puter without “issues”, or at least more then usual. ;) Have fun exploring Firefox. I prefer to keep mine pretty simple, without lots of add-ons… less to go wonky.

I love firefox. It’s awesome. I only have a couple add-ons . I like it simple too. It’s sooooo much fast than IE

  • I have to agree, TJAB, Firefox is the way to go. I also keep IE on the computer, as some sites don’t seem to accept Firefox. However, Firefox is my first preference.

mon46- Thank you for bringing that up because I would have totally forgotten. There’s a great firefox plugin that gives you a little icon on the bottom right of the window and whenever there’s a site that was written for IE you can click the icon and it creates and IE tab. It’s crazy and awesome. I use it all the time.

troublesjustabubble~ That sounds like a great add-on. What is it called and do you have a link to the site to download it?

Here’s the link. Yeah, it’s definitely great. So helpful since I downloaded firefox at my work and I have to deal with alot of IE sites.

I use firefox, ie and the new google chrome all at the same time at work.

  • TJAB, thanks! I was totally unaware of the add-on.

No prob guys! I hope it works out for you! It’s really really helpful to me.

Ok… I had installed the IE add-on and for the life of me couldn’t figure out where is something to start IE from Firefox… I was so disappointed because TJAB’s recommended it so highly and it sounded like something good. So, I just figured it hadn’t installed correctly and I would try again sometime…

Today I happened to come across how to start IE from Firefox (totally by accident)! Woohoo!!! Thankx again TJAB!

Yes bluedolfin! I know it’s a teenie bit weird to figure out. I should have explained out it worked a little better. I’m so glad you got it!

  • I was a Firefox user until recently when Google’s Chrome came out.

I do prefer Firefox & Chrome over IE. However, certain websites do require IE. For example, creating a sales listing in eBay is easier with IE. Ebay doesn’t fully support other browsers and disables certain features.

Anyway, you can have multiple browsers. I primarily use Chrome, then Firefox, then IE as a last resort.

BIG TIP - You can set up your bookmarks online & that way you can access all of your bookmarks from any browser, and from any computer. Go to http://www.google.com/bookmarks to get started!

I like chrome I guess but before I use it I think I’ll wait for the next version. My firefox works fast and is smooth and has all my add-ons and what not.

You never have to use IE and with the IE tab option on firefox. You can open an IE tab while you’re in firefox for the sites you can’t view in firefox. That way you never have to switch browsers and you don’t have to wait for IE to load ever again.

Not always. I left Maxthon and went to Firefox. I listen and watch digital media often. I prefer Firefox for that reason.

Just stumbled on something that might be useful to someone... I have two yahoo accounts and have been frustrated to keep having to sign out of one account to sign in to the other (I have a biz account and a personal account). When using Firefox, to have both yahoo accounts signed into at the same time, open a second tab or window and change it to IE when you have installed the plugin that trouble mentioned in a previous post (#7 above). In the new IE tab/window sign into the second yahoo account. Vala... both signed in at the same time! Thankx again trouble! A big plus for using Firefox!
