Favorite Decadent Raw Dessert????

Hello everyone, this week I will be celebrating my 40th birthday, yay! But my husband and I just separated and I have two babies to tend to so I will be at home alone with my children. So that I don't get too sad, I want to make the most Awesome raw dessert, cake or pie, and hunker down with a good book and ride it out. Any suggestions would be soooo appreciated! Thank you.

Laura

i don't know how much time you want to put into this, but this site has the BEST cinnamon rolls. they took a few hours to make though. i would definitely consider them a dessert because they were super rich and satisfying. i like them better than the baked ones. i made a simple cashew coconut icing on top. it was heaven!!!

i hope you have an fantastic birthday though!!! you DON'T need a man to make you happy. live it up!!

I don't know where I got this recipe so I can't credit it. But this is out-of-this-world delicious. You can make it with any type of berry and it's all good.

(P.S. Now, don't go getting fat... now more than ever you'll want to be 40 and fab! Happy birthday!)

Walnut Cream Cake with Blackberry Jam

    1 teaspoon sea salt

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    1 lemon, juiced

    1 cup water (or less)

    3 cups walnuts, dry

    1 pint blackberries

4 cups dates, soak for 1/2 hour if needed

In the food processor, process 2 cups of walnuts and the salt until fine. Then add the olive oil and 1 cup of the dates and process until it makes a doughy ball. Press into a cake tin with a removable base.

In blender add 1 cup walnuts, 3/4 cup dates, lemon juice and water. Blend to a thick cream. Pour on top of the base, freeze for a couple of hours. Blend blackberries with 1 cup of dates to make jam. When you are ready to serve the cake, remove from freezer, and pour the jam on top. This cake can be modified by cutting crust in half and reducing the jam by half. This keeps fine in the fridge or freezer for several days.

My favorite is quick too! Super smooth and rich mousse! 2 or 3 avocados, dark cocoa powder, alcohol-free vanilla, and honey, whip in food processor. I've tried adding other stuff like coconut oil, dates, sea salt, but it tastes best without them. You can put this in a nut/date crust for a choc cream pie, or freeze it for super rich pudding pops, yum! Have fun on your special day!

  • Wow, thanks everyone! I may try them all!

If you have the Cafe Gratitude book 'I am Grateful', the Strawberry shortcake RULES. Heathy Pace's online dessert book 'Just Desserts' has a chocolate orange cake that looks positively sinful.

Ah! Decadent Desserts! One of my favorite topics lately!

I'd also recommend Heathy Pace's online e-book, Just Desserts as well. She has some gems for sure! I made her Chocolate Orange cake two weekends ago and it's amazing! Check out my blog for photos and details.

I'd also recommend Cafe Gratitude's new dessert book, Sweet Gratitude. This is a fantastic book! If you live near a Borders, you can pick this up for about $16 I believe. I've seen it in our Borders store which is right down the road from my work (or you can also order it from Amazon for $16). So far I've made the Cappuccino pie (awesome!!), the White choc raspberry swirl cheesecake (another awesome one), the Strawberry Brilliance pie (my husband's favorite) and the apple pie, a good one for the holidays. Again, I've posted the all the photos and details of these desserts on my blog.

Happy Birthday! I have one coming up later in March. I'm either going to make the Tiramisu in Sweet Gratitude or Heathy's Vanilla layer cake with pink frosting!

I made those Cinnamon Rolls yesterday after your recommendation and they turned out great! Warmed them in the dehydrator and topped with cashew cream - amazing! Even my slightly sceptical non raw parents thought they were impressive. Still got some left so will be great for taking into work this week.

For Valentines Day, I made a Black Forest Cheesecake from Vanessa Sherwood... it was amazing. I couldn't get Cacao Butter in enough time, so I did what Vanessa suggested and went out and bought a Green & Blacks Dark 85% Chocolate Bar. This is not completely raw, but I really wanted to make this dessert and figured I'd "cheat" just that one time. It was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo worth it! http://gliving.com/blackforest-chocolate-cheesecake-2/

trust me on this one :)

Oh, and the cheesecake i talk about... it took me literally 10 minutes to make. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT make the crust - it's so much better without the crust! I have those re-usable cupcake molds and i just made a whole bunch of those. If you do use a springfoam pan, be sure to take the knife and go along the end the whole way... it does get stuck. My husband thought this was really rich, but i thought it was delicious! The cherry really breaks up the sweetness of the chocolate. Put the entire bag of cherries in - you won't regret it!!!! I am making this again for my own birthday in May. So far, this is my favorite 95% raw dessert :) I don't consider raw sugar cane to be a "raw" item... it's completely up to you! I didn't feel guilty eating it, so that's a plus!!! Oh, and it goes really nicely with a nice glass of red wine and a great book! I stored my leftovers in the freezer and ate them for weeks afterwards. I normally don't eat cashews, but again, this was worth it! I love deserts that take NO TIME to make!!! My husband and my friends couldn't believe this was raw!!!!

  • last year for my b-day I made myself the best chocolate cake EVER! It was from Ani Phyo's book, and it uses brazilnuts as the base. It was so amazingly delicious, and quick and easy to make too.

    Happy Birthday! :)

  • HAPPY BIRTYHDAY, LALI!!!

Here's to the best year ever. Enjoy those little ones and be thankful for all the good things in life- don't let the recent seperation destroy your faith and hope. There is so much good in life.

    Blessings,

    -osoniye

  • That would have to be my luxury chocolate roll.

Hi Carrie - thanks so much for the feedback on the blackforest chocolate cheesecake. It sounds amazing! And with a glass of red wine and a good book! Ah, life doesn't get any better :-)

I made a couple desserts this weekend, one being Vanessa Sherwood's White Chocolate Strawberry cheesecake which was wonderful and very decadent! A must try!

Here is a raw photo album I set up this weekend with my desserts including the cheesecake

if you have everyday raw the hazelnut cake is amazing! i'm going to make it today.

carrie 6292, I'm making the Blackforest Cheesecake this weekend! I'm excited.

  • germin8germin8 Raw Master

The Blackforest Cheesecake (without crust) was amazing and enjoyed by ALL... except, I don't think I'd call it raw... I used Black & Green's bar and the recipe calls for maple syrup. Nevertheless, I am making it again! Maybe with cacao butter once I find a good affordable place to get it from. Yummmm... http://gliving.com/blackforest-chocolate-cheesecake/

Now, I'm curious about an chocolate-orange dessert:

    Thanks Carri 6292.
