dealing with severe pain naturally?

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience of healing from an injury or surgery without or with minimal use of prescription pain killers. I've injured my knee (torn acl, second time...yikes) and may be having reconstuctive surgery soon. Firstly, I would love to hear if you've been there yourself, and secondly how you coped with the pain of post surgery. I may opt not to have the procedure done but either way I'm in a lot of pain and am looking for other ways of coping with it other than pills. I do have a medium to high pain tolerance yet seem to be over my head in dealing with the pain I'm experiencing right now.

  • I havent dealt with post surgery pain but I have dealt with chronic back pain which got worse from not getting treatment. If the surgery will help your mobility really think about it, if its not necessary then dont. I used to wake up almost everyday with pain 3-4 years, position change helped, stretching, but what helped the most was acupuncture which I didnt do until about the 3rd year. I still would love to do it as my back bothers me on and off again but im poor right now lol. -goodluck

  • I agree acupuncture is great for pain relief (if you can afford it!)

    Maybe hypnotherapy can help..

Here is a link to an interesting video.. Mind over Body http://www.sprword.com/videos/naturalmystery/

Hey, I suggest that you check out EFT (emotional freedom techniques). It's a practice that uses tapping on certain points in the body (same as the ones used in acupuncture and acupressure) while thinking about a certain problem whether it be mental, physical, emotional, etc to resolve that problem. I have not personally used it on physical pain, but have read about several people who have with REALLY great results. However, I used it on a lifelong battle with overeating and I feel as though I never even had a problem with eating at all, which I have NEVER felt before.

You can find out more information on emofree.com. On the left side of the page click on "Learn EFT" and you will find a manual there that will tell you everything you need to know to get started.

If you are having doubts about it, there is nothing that can go wrong by trying it. It's a simple session you do by yourself and it takes 1 minute max.

I really hope you benefit from this. Since I have started using it I have been telling everyone about it just to get them to try it because I want everyone to benefit from this as much as I have with as little effort as I have.

I really hope you get better. Keep us updated on your progress.

    Erin
