Im not sure what took me so long to try a chermoya but yesterdays farmers market had a sample of the stuff and i was in heaven! I may be late to the party here, but i have gotta say to all you who have not had one, go try it! Im thinking this fruit could be used in many recipes that bannanas, pinneapples and pears can be used in but i wouldnt pollute it with anything else, peel and eat! WOW!

  • Hi Omshanti! I have never tried one but I will look for one. Didn’t you say you like to eat the wildest things in a previous post? What else do you throw together? I’m always interested in unusual stuff too.

I just looked it up on google, as I had never heard of one before. Looks and sounds very tasty! I will have to keep my eyes open for one!

Did I say that?(about trying wild stuff?) grin! I thought the wackiest fruit I ever tried was a durian, er, guess thats an aquired taste( one aquired after all the tastebuds die out of your mouth! ) Im new to raw..three weeks in…but im hot on the trail of inventing raw versions of my fav cooked foods. in the works are some indian and persian dishes. Mean while its mostly green smoothies both sweet and savory and salads. Not to mention trying the vast quantities of great recipes on this site and others. whats your fav “wild” dish?

I can’t imagine that anyone would ever have tried to eat a durian. Then again, who ate the first egg knowing where that came from?

Someone probably saw an orangutan eating a durian in the wild once and wondered if it was good or not. :)

OMG 123! or the first oyster? used to love these when i was eating meat…as for eggs well i still think of them fondly, I have my own hens and geese, gotta say their eggs on a diet of bugs, leftovers, and greens tasted great, not like store bought. As for how people started eating what they eat…i picture a famished human randomly picking things up and putting it in their mouths like wiley coyote trying to eat a tin can on the cartoon….hahaha

In David Wolfe’s book he mixes cherimoya & avocado to make a pudding. YUM!
