books on wild edibles

Can anyone recommend a really good book on wild edible plants? i have one book, but it is really old, with only tiny pen and ink line drawings… don’t really trust my eyes that much lol! I’m looking for something pocket guide size, with nice photos of the plants in various stages of development. It would be for Eastern US area

Hi chicory, where in the East do you live? I live in Maryland, near Whashington DC.

chicory – You need to check out “Wildman” Steve Brill. He lives in New York and is the expert on wild foods. He has a website – just type his name in to search.

You might not find a pocket size guide with all those pictures. I would go for a color photo one with close ups of the plants. I don’t think you are going to find one with all the various stages of development. The best is a color pictures and close up.
