this isn't about preserving them, but whatever you do, you MUST make blackberry jam.
just 1.5 cups berries and 1 cup medjool dates blended together in a food processor. it is pure, sweet heaven!!
Thank you for the idea, Joanna. I made some this afternoon and it's delicious!
i'm so glad you tried it! i like smearing it on apple slices or a banana. i'm thinking you could roll a banana in the jam, put some shredded coconut on it, and freeze it, too. that would be divine.
I'm not sure how dehydrated berries would turn out - freeze dried are pretty good and are sold as "blackberry popcorn" in a lot of health food stores, so I'd give it a shot. You might want to combine them with pears or dates and puree and then smooth out with a spatula over a teflex sheet in the dehydrator. I always dump left-over pear smoothies in the dehydrator and end up with what resembles fruit leather and my nephew loves it (well, I do too). I think pear helps it stay bound together, so you might want to try the berries with pear before going berries alone. I love the jam/date syrup....it's so great over any raw vegan dessert.
