Bit of a tight spot

I wonder if anyone's got any ideas on this. I regard a high-fruit diet as the optimal way to eat raw, but it seems I'm just in the wrong part of the world for it. I don't want to persistently rely on buying food flown from tropical and subtropical regions, because not only is that enormously polluting and wasteful, but often the people who grow and harvest it are treated like crap. There are plenty of fruits that grow well in temperate regions, of course, but until I can buy a few acres and plant a load of trees and bushes it's going to keep costing a lot. And I don't have much to spend really. So is there a comfortable balance that can be struck? Calories are the main issue for me. I'm OK with a little bit of grains here and there, but I'd prefer to keep fat low. Can anyone help out a bit?

Sure in my opinion you've got to do what you can do to survive so i see no problem in that. A little nuts/seeds per day wont drastically hurt you in anyway and they as you know are calorie dense obviously on a high fruit diet your not going to want to take too much in but a little will help meet your caloric intake.

where do you live if you dont mind me asking, organic produce even if imported helps abit as obviously there isnt the pesticide issues.

  • Cheers for the input. I'm in the west of Ireland. I was just thinking, what are sprouts like for energy? I already eat a good amount.

It depends on the type of sprout really some like alfalfa are quite low in carbohydrates, whilst others are abit higher thus more energy. They are a great source of protein though on a raw vegan diet and i try to eat a fair amount also.
