Biotech Corps Abandon Sustainable Efforts to End World Hunger.

international biotechnology corporations (BASF, Bayer CropScience, Dow Agrosciences, Dupont, FMC , Monsanto, Sumitomo and Syngenta), pulled out of an international project aimed at reducing hunger in developing countries. Croplife
Inc. withdrew from the International Assessment of Agricultural Science and Technology for Development (IAASTD), which is a four-year, $10-million undertaking involving more tham 4,000 scientists and experts. The group is focusing on sustainable ways to feed a world population of 8 – 9 billion people. The term “sustainable” is used in Croplife’s Mission Statement that appears on its home page. It
is believed the IAASTD final report will not state that biotechnology is necessary to produce enough food for growing world populations. This angered Croplife Int. members such that they decided they should take a walk on trying
to help this group find a sustainable solution to world hunger.
