Aromatherapy?

Hi everyone! Can i just start by saying how fantasticaly great it is to have a place with all you wonderful people to post my random questions to? You all are the best!! :)

anyhow – i have a friend who is going through a very very difficult time. Shes very interested in the whole raw thing, but doesnt feel the timing is right. (Which is cool by me. I dont feel the need to pressure her.) BUT she has asked me to do a raw weekend/retreat for her and Im thrilled. So what does this have to do with the title of this post? Well – her birthday is also coming up, and i wanted to put together a really nice spa type basket with organic soaps/body scubs etc.. Does anyone know if there is a particular scent that will inspire strength, provide tranquility and not be too overwhelmingly strong? She says she likes most smells, so long as theyre not too strong. I also want to put in some candles, maybe a nice meditation CD etc.. does anyone have any thoughts? I want to make it really special.. Thanks!

and thanks for being such a magnificent, brillant group of folks!

  • Hi odessa7! Sandalwood, Spikenard, Myyrh, Neroli, and Jasmine are all good! Sounds like you are a great friend!

  • Hi odessa7! What a nice idea to give your friend a spa basket. I like doing that kind of thing too.I am an Aromatherapist and also do personal intuitive blends. Just a couple of suggestions for your friend. I love the following blends:

Valor blend by Young Living – It has rosewood, blue tansy, frankincense and spruce. It balances energies to instill courage, confidence, and self-esteem. It stimulates the desire to live life more fully and helps us to have the courage to change.

It can be simply applied to the bottom of the feet each night or on the spine as it is good for aligning the body.

Inspiration: Contains Frankincense, Dedarwood, Spruce, Rosewood, Sandalwood, Myrtle, Mugwort. The source of being inspried to change comes from the feeling of being wrapped in a cocoon of spiritual quietness. The oils in inspiration were used by Native Americans to enhance prayer and inner awareness. Inspiration may support a person to gain refreshed vision.

Hope this helps. YOu can find more info on my Aromatherapy and articles page at www.loverawfood.com and let me know if you have any questions.

Personally I think nothing beats good old lavender for calming/relaxing.

I also like to work with crystals

  • Thank you Zoe, Fatma, and ambikalee! These are great suggestions!

Zoe – where do you get your crystals?

  • my favorite candles are the “clean air” candles, you can get them at wild oats. they are SUPER!! they’re the most fantastic smelling candles ive ever tried and im addicted…. i will never go back to any other candle.

if you decide to purchase them, tell me how you like them.

I get crystals from crystal/new age shops, there are loads here in the UK, tons of people are into crysal therapy.

Maybe there is a healing/alternative therapy shop in your town…

I have seen the same kind of shops in the USA, hmmm they were in Mount Shasta, guess you’d expect to find them there! And probably the Sedona area has lots too. Someone bought me a gorgeous crystal wand from Sedona.

You can get them from various internet sites too, do a google and see what comes up!

  • okay dokey. Im sure i can find someplace here in NYC! we have everything! lol..

I remember some of the great little alternative shops when i lived in the UK – i miss them a lot. Wish I had someplace like that close by. :)

Im going to order some of the Young Living Oils too.. this should be one heck of a weekend, if i dont go broke putting it on! hehe..
