The Amazing Liver & Galbladder Cleanse

Has anyone done a liver cleanse? I just got the book, titled above, by Andreas Moritz, and I’m hoping to do the cleanse this coming Saturday night and Sunday morning. I’ve started prepping by drinking my 32 oz of fresh apple juice each day this week, and Saturday around 8 (fun saturday night!!) I’m going to start with the epson salts and citrus routine, and the olive oil.

Has anyone done one of these before? If so, did you consider it a worthwhile thing to do? How did you feel?

I’d appreciate any feedback before I put my body (and my weeekend…) through this delight.

Thanks!

  • Thanks, Blujett! I’m slightly apprehensive about how i’ll feel during the flush, but hopefully i’ll feel some difference at the end. I’ll let you know!

I’ve been reading up on this. I have found different variations on it and am wondering which way is the best…

Shazzie did it by doing apple juice fasting for 3 days then taking 1/2 litre of lemon juice and olive oil with the epsom salts. Have a look here (gross picture alert though – you are warned!)

Then I see people recommending only doing it over one day, no three day fast, just the whole thing on one day like here

And there’s loads of recipes for the cleanse on here

Does anyone know which is better to do, or doesn’t it matter would each work equally as well?

And another wuestion is how often should it be done in order to get a clean and clear liver? After seeing those photos on Shazzie’s site I just want that crap out of me!!

  • Hi Zoe -

I have to get ready for work, but later tonight I will give you (from AM’s book) the reason for drinking the apple juice for 6 days (no real fast necessary, but im doing lots of juice and am about to make my first green smoothie ever!) and then the actual procedure that you do over the course of one evening and one morning.

    Stay tuned!

Thanks Dagny I look forward to it! So what are the symptoms of having these stones in our livers, and what do people say the benefits are with them gone? Need some motivation for when I have to glug down the olive oil – yuk!

  • is it necessary to do a cleanse of this sort?

Dagny – please go through the steps/”procedures” if your cleanse as well as your experience with it.

    thank you!! :D

  • ZoeZoe Raw Newbie

magdi I wondered whether it was necessary, and then I looked at the links I provided in my post above, especially the Shazzie one: http://www.shazzie.com/raw/articles/liver_flush/ and thought YES!! Just take a look at the photos of the removed gall bladders and the stones and silt that comes out after a cleanse, I just don’t want that crap in my body. People say they feel amazing afterwards, the liver is such an important organ we should keep it as healthy as possible.

  • I’ll definitely give you guys some more info from the book when I get home tonight. I’ll also keep you posted on how the actual flush feels and what happens – but there is no way I’ll be posting any pictures!! ;)

  • Cool! Thank you. I ordered the book a few days ago. I must say I am really excited about doing it but, as a lot of people, a little apprehensive.

OMG! I just went to Shazzie’s sight and I’m a convert. I actually thought about doing this years ago after I had a massive kidney infection but all the naysayers got the best of me. Frankly I started thinking the stones were just congealed olive oil too. BUT… I really value Shazzie’s input and experiences ( not to mention her pics :-O! ) So I’m gonna do it.Like Zoe though I’m wondering which version of the cleanse to do??

P.S.- Blujet8, Luv the pic of your? cat! You’ve prolly already been to www.stuffonmycat.com? Hilarious.

  • ZoeZoe Raw Newbie

Anyone have any ideas on how often you can do this? Weekly? 2 weekly? I am going to do it until no more icky stuff comes out!

Mairchiesa, thank U for stuffonmycat.com Now I have seen the best thing on the whole internet, my cat better watch out coz I got some new ideas!!

  • cat’s are not dolls to be dressed up.

  • MarichiesaMarichiesa Raw Newbie

    Zoe,

The sites I have visited say every two weeks to repeat the cleanse until the gunk runs out. I’m doing the one day cleanse tomorrow. Yikes! :-) I’ll report my results.

    Mham,

I love my kitty. She is an valued part of our household. I am not advocating unkindness toward our feline friends. But I’d put a silly orange helmut on my head or my kids head too….just being playful. No malice intended!

  • blujett8blujett8 Raw Newbie

hahaha…well. that’s not MY cat …lol! not that it makes any difference if you find it cruel. hard to say or ahem…judge with that one, i’m afraid.

WRT to the cleanse….I actually do it for the emotional release as much as the physical gunk involved. Fasting from fats is all that I’ve found to be required in the week leading up to the actual flush part…so I usually amp up the apples and salads/greens and stay clear of any oils, like flax, hemp or coconut and also avos and nuts/seeds….it’s worked well for me so far.

  • ZoeZoe Raw Newbie

Thanks for all the great advice, I’m really looking forward to the cleanse.I think I’ll do it next week.

Re- Cats, well, when I first read the website address I thought it said “Stuff my cat” which I guess would be cruel!! My cat Tonka loves things being put on him – not clothes (as yet!), just other bits and pieces, he adores all the attention and being made a fuss of, he purrs constsntly whenever we fool around with him!

  • JoescJoesc Raw Master

I feel sorry for the cats on that website…Getting to the point, I have thought about doing a liver cleanse before but just don’t have the time. What did you guys do before doing the liver cleanse to get rid of the parasites etc?

  • I guess I just don’t understand how pets can become toys and accesories????

  • MarichiesaMarichiesa Raw Newbie

    joesc,

I actually just did a 5 day juice fast and then a candida cleanse but not a specific parasite cleanse. So we’ll see…...

  • JoescJoesc Raw Master

Keep us posted. Thanks for responding.

  • ZoeZoe Raw Newbie

Hi Josec! Nice to “see” you again, I was wondering where you were. I’m going to do the cleanse next week. I’ll let you all know about it – strictly no photos though, gross!

mham, my cat is not a toy or an accessory. He loves to play with me, and we play with scarves, blankets and sarongs and all kinds of stuff. He absolutley adores and craves human contact. He initiates the games most of the time. He’ll dive under a sarong and miow at me to come and play with him. We have a great relationship. He also goes out and hunts birds and plays with the neighbourhood cats. He is fed raw carnivore food which I hand prepare. He is a real cat, healthy and happy, fully enjoying his human and feline relationships. He is in no way an “accessory” or a “toy”.

  • MarichiesaMarichiesa Raw Newbie

    mham,

Zoe took the words right out of my mouth. Our cat is a joy not a ‘toy.’

    blujett8,

The emotional component of the cleanse really interests me too. I’ve been feeling really great on the whole since going all raw 6 months ago. Then all of a sudden about two weeks ago I felt sort of detox-y again but with an emotional/anger component. Since its my understanding that the liver hold ‘anger energy’ I thought to meself “hmmmmm….. lets work on this one. Intriguing stuff I think.

  • I love my cat too. I too play lot’s of games etc. with him. He too is the center of my family. I am not saying that anyone here is hurting their pet. What I was trying to say is that creating an entire website that resolves around dressing up your animal seems a tad unatural. I do not dress up my cat for my pleasure at his expense for entertainment. Sorry to all that were offended.

  • Marichiesa, what did you do for your candida cleanse? :)

  • ZoeZoe Raw Newbie

no offence taken, I was just defending my Cat, he would be upset if anyone thought he was trivial doll or just my accessory and he would not forgive me if I didn’t defend his name and reputation:)

Mariciesa you said you were going to do the one day cleanse, does this mean you going to do the whole olive oil/lemon juice/epsom salts thing right away without doing a few days apple juice and low fat/fast? Please.please let me know what happens!

  • Oh and now getting away from the cat thing…....my friend successfully completed her cleanse yesterday. She has inpired me to do it too.I was worried it would be painful, she said no pain. Not sure when I will do my cleanse but when I do i will share my experience. I’m thinking of doing a 2 day master cleanse this or next weekened. Has anyone had results with that?

  • Oh for the love of Pete – the cats on Stuff on My Cat are pampered little kitties whose owners love them enough to follow them around with digital cameras. This is not like the terrible way you see little dogs treated – stuffed into purses and taken all kinds of loud places. But, if you really object, you should check out catsinsinks.com – it’s just pictures of cats…who are in sinks.

Sorry for not posting more details about the flush as promised. I was out sick yesterday and got almost nothing done. I’m still on schedule for doing the cleanse tomorrow night and Sunday morning.

For prep, I’ve continued to drink my liter of apple juice every day. The author recommends a colonic before hand, which I am not going to do, and another colonic after the cleanse.

I’ll write more tonight or tomorrow. I’m so happy to have people to talk to about this! My friends think I’m crazy…

  • ZoeZoe Raw Newbie

    Thanks for catsinsinks!!!

Did you do the litre of apple juice for the whole week-7 days before? Did you cut down on fats?

Good Luck, my fingers are crossed for you getting marbles in your poo!!

  • MarichiesaMarichiesa Raw Newbie

    Hi All!

I DID IT!! Its the real deal. I’m a skeptic no more.

    Little Mango,

I am using Candex for candida. It was recommended from the site womentowomen.com which has some good info on it.

    Zoe,

This is a piece of (raw) cake! hahahah… sorry I think I’m a little high from this whole cleanse, swear to gawd.

I did not fast prior to yesterday but I had been eating quite simply and lightly for the past week so my system was pretty clean I think.

The grapefruit and apple juice were great. Goes without saying right? The epsom salts with lemon are very bitter and not delightful but bottoms up as they say. The oil and grapefruit is actually pretty tasty. No gag factor for me. I only used 1/2 cup of oil this first time btw.

I did feel mildly nauseous from midnight on. And at 6 this AM if anyone had asked me if I would do this again I would have said ‘doubtful’. But I plowed on with the final two epsom salt/lemon doses and the nausea passed. And then…. Uh huh… the green bile/stones started coming. I kid you not.

Its about 4:00PM EDT for me and I am beginning to feel GREAT. Its hard to convey but I feel emotionally clearer. (I will do this again in two weeks. )Blujett mentioned this component to the cleanse and I agree. Its valuable. Last thing? These stones are NOT congealed olive oil and grapefruit juice or lemon. No way. Here is a kicker. I have light blue eyes with green/hazel irises. Only post cleanse MUCH less brown. More blue/green.

Be not afraid! :o) Going to catsinsinks now!

  • Marichiesa That is so wonderful! I am so glad you are feeling the positive effects of the flush!!!

I got my book yesterday and think I will do mine next weekend.

Quick question for you! Do you know how many stones you passed?

  • ZoeZoe Raw Newbie

Wow Marichiesa great news! I know you don’t have a book, so which cleanse did you follow, which website was it from?

I want to do the one you did! Thanks for sharing, I am so glad I don’t have to fast for a week before the cleanse!!

  • jenny2052jenny2052 Raw Newbie

You guys are so inspiring! I think this is just the push I need to do a cleanse, too. Thanks for sharing your stories!

Marichiesa, I’m interested in which cleanse you did, too.
