Hey it took me a while but I found a place where you can buy raw bread, instead of making it.

hmmm cant really tell you. I really havent had buckwheat or millet before. I dont really eat any grains at all, mostly just fruit. The only reason I posted this was because some one really wanted sumthin like bread. Hmmm… ya know that? I thin that any grain or seed would work quite well, and you can also add like spices to make it taste better. If you do decide to make some bread just go with one grain.

  • what's your favorite exotic fruit?   2 years 39 weeks ago

Bananas and all the varieties of them. Baby or finger bananas, manzano or red bananas, and plantains. I love durians, papayas, champagne mango, young coconut, avocado, and lychees.

Ume is short for Umeboshi ..they are the little red pickled ones packed in the cmal containers in the macrobiotic section of the HFS. They are very salty and tangy and would add to the meaty/salty taste of the dish.

Um, what clementines? I think you missed them from the ingredients list.

Can’t do corn either. Or Spelt or kamut. Its pretty much buckwheat, quinoa or millet for me. Tho now that I’m thinking about it, what about a mix of buckwheat and millet?

great suggestion on the melons. I totally agree! I did not really think about the dates and water issue. But maybe soak the dates in water first?

  • Fruitarian Pie   2 years 39 weeks ago

the dates, figs, prunes, raisins, and coconut make up the crust. Put all those in a food processor until all the dried ingredients are combined. Chopping up the dried fruit would be easier on your processor.

you could try some dried corn. Just soak it for a while and then grind it up into a powder.

Can you come up with one that doesn’t have wheat berries? I’m gluten intolerant :(..I miss bread.

  • Sprouting tips?   2 years 39 weeks ago

Weird. I have no problem sprouting buckwheat, I soak it for 20 minutes only and then place it in a glass dish lined with wet paper towels. I cover it with another layer of paper towels and keep it moist. I get sprouts in a 1 to 1.5 days doing it this way.

Pomegranate’s are mine, though I know they are not that exotic anymore.

If you don’t eat 100% raw, make sure at least you don’t eat anything with lactose or gluten in it – those are big skin irritants: gluten makes skin red and itchy, lactose inflames. Also watch your food combining – try to eat one food at a time, or at least, simplify as much as possible your dietary intake. Also, try organic virgin coconut oil: put it on your skin and eat some too: the stuff’s a godsend. Be patient: detox can take time, but there’s no surer path to clear skin.

  • What would you recommend for a super high needs day?   2 years 39 weeks ago

I would reccomend a big smoothie in the morning. Smoothies won’t make you tired from chewing and you can load them up with super foods, fruits and greens for everything you need. In my expirience dried fruit is not something I would recomend for right before you go because it is devoid of water and leaves me a little bloated. I would havea watery fruit like watermelon. Melonsl are packed ful of sugar but water helps it pass through you easily and the fiber slows down the absorption so you don’t get a sugar high and the crash that follows. If you practice food combining, don’t eat melons with anything else. They only yake about 20 minutes to leave your stomach, after that you’re in the clear.

  • Overeating.   2 years 39 weeks ago

HI Nagev! I’m new here and only starting on my RAW path but I can empathize with your nut/fruit cravings. Don’t get me started on my walnut binges! I feel so gross the next day, all bloated and ugh and swear I will never do it again, and then poof, I do it again. I’ve wondered if its a nutrient that I’m lacking (protein maybe)? I’d be very curious what the others think.

  • What would you recommend for a super high needs day?   2 years 39 weeks ago

Just tried my first Durian over the weekend… wow. That’s an unusual fruit!

  • Carrot Soup   2 years 39 weeks ago

That was a most delicious soup Kandace! Thanks for the wonderful recipe!

  • What would you recommend for a super high needs day?   2 years 39 weeks ago

Vaughn, I have never seen a durian here but ya never know! I didn’t think I would ever see young coconut here either.
Dates, I didn’t think of those. I have been eating oranges before class and have been very pleased with the results, I will add banana’s.
Kandace, I picked up tahini last week specifically for that recipe but I couldn’t remember which one it was when I got home.
    Thanks for the link!

Mine would be mango. But it has to be a good one. Some are stringy, that isn’t nice. The bad spots make me gag, they look kind of greyish. But if you get a really good one that is ripened just right they are divine!!

  • Fruitarian Pie   2 years 39 weeks ago

Sounds good... So the crust is only made from the dried figs and coconut (or some of the other ingredients listed dried)? Do you dice or blend up the other fruits and add to the banana for the filling?

  • Kale Chips (AKA - Green Monster Chips   2 years 39 weeks ago

Maybe humanimal means to make certain it is raw. Many people purchase the non-raw variety making the assumption... It is lower glycemic than honey and some other alternative sweeteners. However, even if that is your primary concern, it is only 1 tsp. for an entire bunch of kale. Really, even 1/2 tsp. would be OK.

So glad you all are willing to try it. I look forward to hearing what you think. My kids go crazy of this stuff - I must admit, so do I...

  • Kale Chips (AKA - Green Monster Chips   2 years 39 weeks ago

Sounds great, will give them a try :)
Humanimal, why watch out for agave? I've been told that it is lo-glycemic and is a natural sweetener, much better than sugar, sucanat, honey, dates because of the lower/slower blood sugar issue.
