Hi! Im very new to raw eating but Ive too been trying to gain weight. My lowest weight being 84 lbs! Your body does go through some odd cravings because it is looking to nourish as fast as possible. The way that worked for me was weight training and lots of nuts! I ate all kinds of almonds and peanuts. Nut butters became my best friend. haha. I went through a period of time too where i craved foods that weren't too healthy either. I went with it. Life is a process I think. Just feed your body what it wants now to get back to a healthy weight. Then maybe focus on detoxing and eating a more healthy diet. Good luck to you! I gained 20 lbs in about 5 months. So Im very close to a healthy weight range now! Avacados are a great source of healthy fats as well. If you are craving some donuts and bread-y foods I dont think its the end of the world. Just go with what you body is telling you and everything will fall into place. This is just what worked for me though. I didnt see a nutritionist or anything and just found that I could put on weight pretty well by myself. If you are worried about it you could always maybe just check in with a licensed nutritionist that could help you put together an eating plan that would put on some weight in a healthy way. Hope this helps!
Thank you for bringing this series of books up, Kayo!
I became intrigued after reading about them from your post quite a while ago and finally got around to ordering the whole series... and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!! I am on book 7 now~ don't want to stop reading each book!! The first half of book 2 was slow for me, then it picked up and every single other one has been just amazing, inspiring, and uplifting! Can't say enough how wonderful these books are~ and SO cool to see how transformational they seem to be to those who have read them (after Googling key words from the books) and are incorporating some of her advice inot practice like on gardening and communities! Her advice on raising children, breastfeeding, and cjildren's education are quite fascinating and inspiring! And it is also really col to me, to see how what she says about the power of thougts coincides with what Dr. Bruce Lipton ("Biology of Belief") and Greg Braden are saying (and, no doubt, others out there, too)~ just cool to see what she says begin proven now! SO happy to have the gift of being able to read these books! Thank you, again. Kayo and Queenfluff!! :D
As usual, it leads to another question. I soak seaweed to remove the salt, but the result is a very unpalatable sludge. Any suggestions? Would a long drying in the lowest oven heat restore it?
I think that a smoothie maker will be on my Christmas list.
Welcome T-elos. Nice to meet you. Mikfizzle, a couple things I read when I need to be reinvisioned or redirected;) is the book of Esther, or anything about Daniel and his stay in the palace of the pagan king, or even Ezekiel. Eshters purpose for eating raw was two fold, A) to conform to her Jewish ways of honoring God in a pagan palace, & B) to prepare her body for the king. Daniel, the same as Esther's first. What I love about Ezekiel is that God told him specifically what he should be eating, how much, and for how long.
May God's goodness and Love envelope you as you are pressing through the application process. Stressful yes, but exciting in the end I'm sure;)

Oh and we will be receiving Gabriel Cousens in a few days, if you know any person in Nicargua right now that could be interested in meeting him!
Just ordered it from my library. They have 13 copies and 36 holds so I should get it in about 4 weeks. As a non-athlete I look forward to what looks like an interesting read and maybe some inspiration to get moving!
Thanks for all these responses and for the link to the video.
I really needed to hear all this right now.
I've been a vegetarian my whole life (the only one in my family. I just wouldn't eat meat as a kid) and it's really just junk foods that I have a hard time letting go of. I'm currently staying at my in-laws for a month and my MIL just gave me some lecture about my weight. She doesn't speak English, so I don't know exactly what she was saying, but I was still like STFU. It especially made me feel bad because I've been eating pretty healthy for the week that I've been here. I would eat even healthier, but my options here in Japan are quite limited.
camiheartsraw... have you ever looked up a healing crisis? it might be helpful. sometimes when your body gets to a certain health level, it goes back through various stages of ill health. Once you re-experience them, your body is cured of it completely. Maybe you going off the deep end was a healing crisis. I know it is very very important to be careful, and i only wish you the best on your journey. I think it's so awesome you are attempting natural remedies for lupus, I know you will be shown that it WILL work for you. Just give it time. I think it is good to go back in slowly, to slow down any body detox is going on for you. Maybe you can heal more slowly over time, but have it be more gradual. It sounds like you are doing a great job with it. I will send some healing energy your way. best wishes. Namaste.
hey.. my worst craving when going raw was chicken! chicken and pizza. I still don't get why those two foods. Before raw, i would eat this rotisserie chicken from the grocery store that was great with cheese and 'french bread' LIttle did i know all the crap that was in the french bread, let alone everything else. Anywayz. It was kind of like detoxing from a drug. I would tell my neighbors, I want chicken! and say things like this diet is great, but I still crave chicken. I kept talking about it. Eventually my chicken craving went away. I'm not sure when.. seemed to take a couple of weeks. Now I don't think about it at all. The bits of chicken i've had since then, didn't even taste good. It just tastes different after you can detox from it. So I say, go cold turkey(hehe), give yourself something raw that you absolutely love to reward yourself for giving up chicken. Deal with the cravings. Talk about it. Eventually it WILL go away. Best Wishes. Namaste.
Are you eating enough 'substantial' raw food, like nuts and seeds? I get cravings big time for things like pasta and turkey meat balls, things like that, and a serious sit down with seed "crusts" (thicker than crackers) and some spreads - avocado, cashew 'cheese', even some raw goat cheese - makes me so full I can hardly walk. Kelp noodles (SeaTangle makes them) are unbelievable...you can eat HEAPS of them and there are so few calories/carbs/fat it's as if you didn't eat anything. I put on a sauce (tomato, garlic, onion, oregano, sea salt in the blender), warm it all up just a bit, and OMG...takes the pasta craving away immediately. Plus, the kelp noodles expand in your stomach so there is no way you'll be hungry for hours.
There are so many substitutes for the things we think we can't live without...I'm sure you can get past your chicken addiction. Good luck and keep going!
All raw never sat that great with me, after the detox period I was just out of energy all the time even though I was eating a lot of veggies and fruit.
I personally function better on raw milk, some cooked rice, quinoa, etc. and mostly raw.
And a green smoothie every morning, fruit, greens, flax and hemp seeds. A smoothie once a day is a must in my opinion, I just don't feel or operate that great without a smoothie at least once a day.
super thanx
this sounds good... did it really taste like green bean casserole?

I'm saving tall straight glass spice bottles as popsicle & fudgical molds. They already have a hole in the top for the wooden stick

More good advice. Thank you.

I have the book...need to find time to finish it! So far so good :D
Mine was purple this morning. It tasted good and smelled good. I'll let you know if I get sick. =0)
wheatgrass, wild blue green algae, and other green sea plants have b12. lots of it.
I loved this. It's not like raw cheeze I knew and feels more balancing and sattvic so I like it more. has hints of nacho.
I like to make this in half portion which is just right for my processor.
Thanks for all these responses and for the link to the video.

Animals do produce B12 (including humans) but not as much is available as there use to be.
