My journey into Raw Veganism started around May 2006. I went 100% raw for about 1 month, and then started leveling out to about 90-95% raw where I’ve maintained it up until around December 2006. I found that living in a colder environment (Brampton, Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada) that being raw isn’t as easy as you’d think it would be as it is during the summer. So since then I’m currently sitting between 80-90% raw where I appreciate the low cooked Ezekiel 4:9 breads and the soups. I’m always interested in finding out how to make the raw versions of what I enjoyed on a cooked diet, but seeing what new things that aren’t just raw versions of cooked foods excites me too.
My raw lifestyle started off quite interestingly. I lived off of OceanGrown Sunflower Sprouts and OceanGrown Wheatgrass juice for about the first month along with raw fruits and veggies. Then I slowly started adding other things, trying a few recipes here and there, and have done some pretty nice stuff in the short time being raw.
Each day, I plant about 20,000 sunflower seeds. It allows me to harvest about 5 kilograms of sprouts that are consumed each day. I’ve seen some pretty amazing things happen to my health and these sprouts in the one year I had been doing this. Since then, I’ve been raw for two full years now, and it’s become second nature to me.
