I grew up around a lot of sickness and watch the people closest to me wither away. No matter how sick they became they never took any initiative to change what they ate. One such person had severe diabetes and he never watched what he ate. He ate quite a large volume of food daily, however I guess his train of thought was as long as you eat something good, you can eat something bad. One blatant train of thought of his was that pills can cure anything. Growing up with that influence made me put a lot of thought into what goes into my body.
I am young and just moved out and all, and my budget is low. Fortunately I am rooming in a household with healthy, spiritually conscience people. At the very least, people who don't nag me for eating organic produce. My reasoning that I would rather spend money on organic produce instead of a medical bill never gets me very far.
I was hoping to slowly creep my way into the raw food lifestyle. I can't afford raw, organic produce all the time. However I do my best. When budget times are brighter I think I can make it.
